Do you drink a glass of wine at dinner? A new study completed in Boston shows that the calories from wine could be burned off more easily than the calories from food. If you drink a small amount to replace the same number of food calories, you might come out ahead.
The long-term study by Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston showed that women who identified as "moderate drinkers" gained the fewest numbers of inches over time.
Women aged 39 and over in the States were asked about their drinking habits, and their weights were recorded over 13 years. Women who didn't drink gained the most inches, the study shows. Wine proved to be the most beneficial alcohol to imbibe regularly in small amounts, hinting that this could be why French and Italian women gain less weight as they get older.
